Channel Crossings is a private language school that was founded in 1993 in Prague as the company Lenka Pavilkova-Channel Crossings and then transformed to Channel Crossings Ltd. Its aim is to provide comprehensive and effective language training. It has gained so far a lot of experience in national and international projects, exploring and disseminating EU portfolio in language classes, an intercultural approach to second language learning, equality of men and women and learning partnership exchange. It has been awarded prize for the innovative approach to adult learning – Label (2004) and Gender Studies prize (2005). CHC developed a centre for mothers on maternity leave to improve their language and personal abilities. CHC was certified by ISO 9001 certificate. The project experience with management has been gained as a partner or the coordinator in mentioned projects. CHC is a member of Cz. Ass. of Language Schools, American Chamber of Commerce in CR and Cz.Chamber of Commerce.
Verein für Kultur und Sprache
Verein für Kultur und Sprache is a non-profit organisation founded in Graz in 1995, it has got two main cooperating partners in Austria, the Austrian Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture (I/13b, Referat „Kultur und Sprache“) and the Pedagogical University of Styria.
Main fields are teacher training and the development of teaching materials. The institution organizes int. training courses for teachers, trainers, multipliers, adult educators (mainly for German) working in different contexts (schools, universities and institutions of adult education). The learners are from Europe and from all over the world. Its approach towards language learning is an intercultural one, therefore the emphasis in the seminars is on „language and culture“, intercultural competence, cultural awareness, new or „alternative“ methodologies - as they are essential parts of language teaching. It has developed and published various teaching materials focusing on „Landeskunde“ of Austria and other German speaking countries.
English Matters. S.L.
English Matters Ltd. synthesizes the work developed from 1992 around the in-service training of teachers in Ireland and in Spain. The organization was established in Jaén, Spain, on January 1999, to promote and organize educational programmes for teachers, students, professionals and adults in general, engaged in LLL, in Spain and abroad. Among its activities stand out the organization of international conferences and activities where English Matters has developed a broad experience in the design, promotion and organization of training programmes concerning the intercultural and enquiry-based learning of modern languages.
EM introduces the European Dimension in its programmes and promotes the constitution of educational and learning partnerships which have helped to expand the exchange of professional expertise, either at school or institute level, or on a personal basis, and has given place to the constitution of multinational teams, leading to the setting up of European projects.
Museumspädagogische Werkstatt Schoß Obernzenn

The Museum „Blaues Schloß“ and the Museum’s pedagogical workshop Schloß Obernzenn is a museum and an NGO founded in 2000 and based in Obernzenn. Projects, such as historical projects, monument preservation projects, language learning concepts and programs for LLL are developed. The institution counts 2500 adults as visitors per year. The target groups are students, teachers, adults and foreign students and children. The main idea, founding the MPW Obernzenn is, to awake the historical interest, and how important it is to respect our cultural heritage. Foreign students have the possibility to come to see and via innovative learning approaches accept EU culture, language and the intercultural competence. Overall idea is to bring students to Obernzenn, and make them familiar with German and European cultural heritage, history of the 18th century and our language competence in the museum.
Teaching and Learning Challenges Ltd.
TLC works for national and regional public and government agencies to implement new strategies in adult education, in particular working on initiatives which engage disadvantaged and disengaged learners. The consultants undertake projects which involve project management, mentoring, partnership facilitation, evaluation and numerous other project related activities. TLC also organises and conducts/facilitates training and seminars. Use of technology to meet teaching and learning challenges and engage learners is at the heart of the work of the company together with sharing of good practice in innovative use of technology for pedagogical advances.
